On bar now · OZBREW Coffee Roaster

Tomorrow's coffee was dropped by a regular.

Regulars and roasters drop sealed bags at the café. The guest coffee changes whenever a bag runs out or the freshness window expires. The café keeps count of the grams used daily. Regulars earn points as their bag is used, and roasters are paid on an invoice for each bag once it comes off the bar.

The gram log

Every gram, weighed.

At closing, the café puts each guest bag on its scale and saves the weight. What the bag lost since the day before is that day's grams used, whatever the brew, dial-in and beans sold by weight included. Past days are locked, and whoever dropped the bag can see every one of them, and what the bag has earned, at any time.

How one bag's grams get counted: the bag on the café's scale, the café's screen, and the contributor's screen

  1. At closing

The guest bag goes on the scale. Nobody counts doses during the rush.

  2. On the bar page

The café types in the number. BeansDrop takes it from yesterday's weight, and that's the day's grams used. Past days are locked.

    Any time after

Whoever dropped the bag opens their own page and sees every day's grams, and what the bag has earned so far. This bag is valued at 2 THB a gram, and points come at 120% of that, 2.4 points per gram used.

Dial-in counts too.

Example numbers for one bag. Valued at ~2 THB/g, earning 2.4 points per gram used.

The life of a bag

Served at its best, never past it.

  1. Day 0

    Roasted

The roaster prints the roast date on the sealed bag.

  2. Day 3–21

    Dropped

The café checks the seal and date. Each café sets its drop size, bags of 200g+.

  3. Once rested

    On bar

Dialled in and brewed as the guest coffee. Extra bags queue, oldest roast first.

  4. Day 45

    Window ends

A roaster's bag comes off the bar by itself. The café can buy what's left at 50% of its value. If not, you have 14 days to take it home.
